The Pribilof Islands are a group of four volcanic islands, part of the US state of Alaska, lying in the Bering Sea, about 320 km north of Unalaska and 200 miles south of Cape Newenham, the nearest point on the North American mainland. The Siberian coast is roughly 800 km away. The population is concentrated in the towns of St. Paul and St. George, each on an island of the same name.

    A visit St. George Island and St. Paul Island offers rare opportunities for wildlife photographers and bird watchers. Rocky cliffs and beaches support some of the largest sea bird and fur seal populations in the world.

    St. Paul and St. George constitute the largest Aleut community in the world, with hospitable people willing to share their love of the islands with visitors. Social life is community-oriented, with many time-honored Native and Russian traditions.
