Cruise Overview:
There's good reason why Regensburg's old town has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. St.Peters Cathedral, the Golden Tower and the Reichssaal (Imperial Hall) make the history of the city come alive. In the Advent season, visitors young and old can enjoy the famous Christmas market. Weltenburg Abbey is one of the oldest monasteries in Bavaria and stands out due to its unique location. Bring the trip in the "Christkindl" city of Nuremberg to a close with a sightseeing tour followed by a visit to its world-famous Christmas market.

Highlights of this cruise:

Nuremberg
Nuremberg is a city in Bavaria, Germany. It is the largest town in Franconia, a region in the north of Bavaria and is located approximately two hours north of Munich. Nuremberg's Alstadt, or Old Town is surrounded by a mighty city-wall that is 5km long. Cobble-stoned squares and half-timbered houses make it easy to picture Nuremberg’s medieval past. This is also where sights such as Dürerhaus are to be found and in the festive season, thousands of people from all over the world visit the famous Christmas market on the Hauptmarkt. The city of Nuremberg expanded on both banks of the river Pegnitz and because of this, the Old Town is often divided into the Seebald-quarter and the Lorenz-quarter, both of which are named after the two main parish churches. Each quarter has its own distinct character.

Regensburg
Regensburg is a city in Bavaria, Germany, located at the confluence of the Danube and Regen rivers, at the northernmost bend in the Danube. It is one of Germany's oldest towns, founded by the Romans in 179 A.D. Regensburg is has many landmarks, most dated to the Middle. Since July 2006 the old city of Regensburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The main attraction of Regensburg is its excellently preserved medieval city centre with the cathedral and the stone bridge being the highlights. As one of the few cities in Germany largely undamaged during the Second World War, Regensburg boasts the largest preserved medieval city centre in Germany. It is sometimes called "the northernmost city of Italy" due to the lively places and streets with lovely outdoor cafes during summer, as well as the large number of Italian-style medieval merchant houses and towers. The historic centre lies next to the river Danube (Donau), and crossing the medieval stone bridge into the town provides a perfect entrance to the city.
